Idalgashinna station is situated between Haputale and Ohiya about 190km away from Colombo. Idalgashinna is a small village with magnificent views around it. If you are into hiking, you can climb the Idalgashinna mountain located close to the station and experience the heavenly sceneries from there.

Additionally you can do a rail hike to Ohiya from the station. Between Ohiya and Idalgashinna there are 14 tunnels which is the highest number of tunnels between two railway stations in Sri Lanka. If you are planning to do the rail hike always be vigilant on train schedules and make sure there are no passing trains before you enter a tunnel or bridge. Other than the trains there are some rail cars that travel up and down the track. Always check the time table and the sound of oncoming trains.
