Great Western is the 6th highest mountain in Sri Lanka and it is situated in Nuwara Eliya district. Train station near this mountain carries the same name and doesn’t have a motorable road to access the station. Hence you will have to take the train from Nanuoya to Great Western or drive to the village that is close to the station and do a hike to the trailhead.

Trailhead starts from 1km to Radella side. You need to climb some steps which leads which leads to a kovil and from there you will find a footpath to the top. Entire climb is not hard but you will have to walk  through Pana bushes which are slippery once stepped on it.  The view from the top pretty much worth all the trouble. When you reach the summit take the footpath to your left  which will lead you to the viewpoint with the view of the railway station down below.

Take enough water with you. You can camp up near the summit there’s enough flat ground to raise your tent.
